As Florian Pittis once said, “no day without The Beatles“. So here is a song that describes, in its verses, each of the Beatles members. I the order of the verses, these are George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Lenon and Paul McCartney.
It’s been a perfect chillout weekend. Most of the time the only music was the wind and sound of waves. And right at the end of it, while enjoying the last cup of coffee there was this track which seemed to fit right in. And so it becomes the song of the week :)
This is the title of a folk song that Led Zeppelin inspired from when creating their famous “Gallows Pole“. This story can be found in many versions, in various countries, like Finland, Sweeden, Hungary and, of course, England. The plot is the same, with a convicted lady asking the hangman to wait for the arrival of friends and relatives, who could offer some bribe :). While in the original versions the plan usually succedes, Page and Plant decided to go for the hangman accepting the bribe but still carrying on with the execution…
In 2003, In-grid released “Tu es foutu”, which was crap, to be honest. However, the 2010 Vive le swing sounds much better. It’s a rare thing for such a dance song to be on musicblog, but I believe this one deserves it.
Today’s song comes from The Black Keys and their latest album – El Camino. A combination of rock and indie that sounds excellent. I specially like the 70s rock sound that is present on the entire album and even more in this track.
This is strange… this song is quite nice but I cannot really share the video. I do appreciate that anyone has the right to their own image, but I have the right not to share it – that girl is way too fat :). Still, she has a great voice, which is probably the reason why this song makes it here.
From about ten days ago, a song I’ve heard and enjoyed a lot. It is not the original version – by Zager and Evans – but a version that sounds very good in my view.
It’s great to listen to this in the car, while struggling through the Bucharest traffic. I loved this play many years ago, during my primary school years and it still brings a smile after all these years.

This is a nice way to be close to your most devoted fans - Dave Grohl, of Foo Fighters, says he'll make good on his promise to go for beer with two Australian miners who listened to the Foo Fighters while trapped underground for two weeks.
After 500 Beatles tapes were found - with the members of the band singing, jamming and talking -, now a Jimi Hendrix new-found track is to be put up for sale. Links are here and here.
